The Search Begins

As many of you know, I'm a self-employed, independent, J2EE/Java developer and for the last six years I've been gainfully employed as an hourly, contract designer and developer by a single client. I have to count my blessings since the project I started on back in 2002 was supposed to be a 3 month gig. Lots of hours, little sleep, high pressure, a must succeed kind of project using technology (at the time) was outside the norm of the client. However, the project was highly successful and continues today. Since that time, I've been moved around to numerous projects, usually acting in the capacity of the foundation and project infrastructure specialist. I've sort of become the guy that gets a new project up and running with enough design and enough of a development skeleton so that lots of people can be dumped on it to put on the meat.

Well, my time at this client has come to a close and I'm now looking for a new client. My resume can be found here and if you're interested, drop me an email (the address is at the top of the resume). I'm also on LinkedIn.com.

Are you interested in working in Australia? I can't imagine we'd pay you to move here or anything, but I can guarantee gaming buddies.

Ha! If I could find a contract in Australia I'd take you up on it!

I just heard today that we're not allowed to replace contractors who finish up, as our customers are spending less. However I do work on a team of 15 or so Java programmers, some of whom are brilliant, doing some pretty whiz-bang techo stuff. No JavaScript though. If I hear we're looking for people again I'll email you.

That's cool. I appreciate it. In my day job, I don't focus on Javascript that much really. It's part of the package but doesn't represent the bulk of my work by a long shot. I'm mainly a Java/J2EE/Spring/Struts/Tiles/Ajax guy. However, I do use other languages where appropriate. I do dabble in other languages on the side for fun though.
